The recent March 1st breakfast and training seminar spearheaded by Regina Greer-Smith of the S.T.A.R. Initiative, representatives of the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) from Washington DC., special guests from CAPriCORN, all in collaboration with Apostle Dr. Carl L. White Jr. and the Southland Ministerial Health Network was an absolute success! Researchers, research administrators, staff and representatives from some of our most prestigious hospital systems were also on-board to help steer the activity in a most positive way.
CAPriCORN was actually officially funded and launched on the day of the seminar. Informative speakers, great presentations and strong interactions highlighted the day long event. People from the health care industry, local clergy and business leaders, and citizens were on hand to share concerns about research as it relates to the underserved members of our Southland communities. Progress was made as participants forged new relationships and clear pathways began to materialize for the development of strong new research components in the Southland.
The Southland Ministerial Health Network, PASTORS4PCOR Research Ministry, and their church members will work with the S.T.A.R. Initiative to begin forming Engagement Clusters at each church to begin to utilize the resources provided at the seminar and begin to participate in patient-centered outcomes research. PASTORS4PCOR governing council, chaired by Bishop Simon Gordon and Pastor Walter Turner, will lead the planning and development of the Research Ministry.
